OCI Recruting For Another City SA

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Aug 09, 2016 4:14 pm

Attend law school in a major market city. The law school is ranked the top law school in the major city. However, the big law firm is Recruting for another major city within the state. They do have a office in this city but are not recruiting for this office. Why would they come to this city then? There are other law schools in the other city where they need SAs. They probably are going there as well. Well anyways, what should I except the screening interview to be like? Usually a screener is about 20 min right? I can spect to be asked why I would like to go to that other city right? My answer would be because I haven't amity there. Kind of awkward situation huh, why would they interview here for another city?

Also how hard will it be to land an offer with them given I am going to be going to a different city and they will also be going to law schools that are in the city more than likely?

Law firms recruit from various schools for various cities all the time. Just because there are several great law schools in New York City doesn't mean that firms won't bother interviewing people in other cities and markets to come there. This applies everywhere.

The screener will be like any other screener. Why this firm, why this city, etc. there are a great many reasons why someone is trying to go to a different market than their school is in. If you don't have any reasons for why you'd like that city, I'd suggest looking to other firms in cities you like, finding a reason, or just bs something. Likelihood of an offer is highly dependent on your schools recognition vs the schools in the other city, your grades, and your social skills.
