I am a newbie student and also part time as well. It has been vague for me and want to clarify the terminology.
--2L means rising 2L, which is just finished 1L full-time courses, correct?
--then what is 1L summer associate? People get intern before law school even starts?
Just really confused.

Yeah so you work a 1L SA when you're a rising 2L. You do a 2L SA when you are a rising 3L. The ladder is more common.

Ahh. That makes sense. So when people complain about there are no positions for 3L at OCI, it means there are no intern positions AFTER their graduation -- that makes more sense. Thanks!

3L OCI would be looking for a full-time job after graduation.

No dude.

Some 1Ls get SA positions after 1L year. They are 1L SAs, but rising 2Ls.

2L OCI is for rising 2Ls. 2L SAs are rising 3Ls (who mostly got their offers at 2L OCI).

3L OCI is for rising 3Ls, so they haven't graduated yet.
