Congratulations! I had a regional office interview today and felt fairly optimistic, but who knows. They did say they'll be making their decision within a matter of days.Anonymous User wrote:Received an offer from DOL HQ today. It was the only office I ranked so I don't know how the process is affected if you also ranked regional. And I was contacted last week asking for references (who were immediately called), so I imagine the reference request is a pre-req to an offer, at least at HQ.Anonymous User wrote:Hey everyone, any other updates for DOL?

Any movement from USACE regional offices, especially on the west coast/Chicago?

I talked to DOL a bit ago and they said my app had advanced out of the Hiring Committee and that the regional offices move at their own speed. No word yet from the West Coast offices.
But this new secretary looks like bad news for people who want to go to DOL to enforce wage & hour laws.

Not for those offices. Are they done w interviews? I heard last year some offices were slow but I'm not sure if that's different this year bc of the new hiring freeze taking place next monthzot1 wrote:Have you interviewed already?Anonymous User wrote:Any movement from USACE regional offices, especially on the west coast/Chicago?

Ok, let me rephrase. Did you get qualified already or do you mean you have also interviewed with other offices already (not just the qualification interview)?Anonymous User wrote:Not for those offices. Oh, my apologies. I have been qualified and interviewed with a regional office already, just not the ones I mentioned.zot1 wrote:Ok, let me rephrase. I see. My understanding is that USACE doesn't have specific spots for the program, but rather, when an office has a vacancy, they look into the HP applicants for potential hires.Anonymous User wrote:Oh, my apologies. I'm gonna say that if you've already been contacted by one regional office and not others, there's a chance those others might not be hiring right now.
Nevertheless, I'm just here speculating. Good luck.

They're doing more interviews today so we probably won't know anything until early next week. Question though - do you think they're getting more than one honors attorney?Anonymous User wrote:If anyone receives an offer from the Atlanta DOL regional office, please notify this thread.

Re: Government Honors (Non-DOJ) 2016-2017 Cycle
I'm interested in applying to DHS and DOJ honors programs. I am set to graduate December 2018. So, when would be the best time for me to apply? Should I apply by fall of 207 and then see if they'll hold the position open a bit longer, or should I apply by fall 2018 and have the gap from when I graduate, then take bar, then hear if I was chosen? Thoughts?

Same experience here. Kind of. They said they hoped it would be quicker, but couldn't guarantee it.

I had mine yesterday. No, they're only taking one. I asked. And yeah I just meant if you hear anything please post so we know. They said if you weren't selected it may be a while before you find out.Anonymous User wrote:They're doing more interviews today so we probably won't know anything until early next week. Re: Government Honors (Non-DOJ) 2016-2017 Cycle
Right, that makes sense. I guess I was just looking for any movement to try and gauge whether or not those offices are hiring this year and, if so, whether they've already started to reach out to candidates. I know that at the regional interview level, each office runs on its own timeline, so the office I interviewed with may have just been faster than the others.zot1 wrote:I see. Yeah, it can really go either way. I got word that government offices are hurrying to get people hired to avoid freeze. This would make sense for USACE because when they hire HP, they already have a need. It's not like grooming for the future as other agencies do.Anonymous User wrote:Right, that makes sense. Re: Government Honors (Non-DOJ) 2016-2017 Cycle
Honors applications must go in during fall of 3L or your last year clerking for the following fall (12 months in advance). You wouldn't be eligible for honors positions if you apply in the fall after graduation (unless you are clerking).Cbarrow1644 wrote:I'm interested in applying to DHS and DOJ honors programs. The DOL NY regional office is having two rounds of interviews. Second round is with regional solicitor. Hiring one person. They're hoping to wrap up the process and make an offer before Christmas.
