Had HUD interview this morning. Was told decisions would be made by Mid-December and it sounded like the goal was definitely before the holiday break.

Not directly. They did say that they usually hire 10 - 20 Honors attorneys but seemed to think that this year would be towards the lower end (Around 10 total). I took that as good news.Anonymous User wrote:They say anything about the potential hiring freeze?Anonymous User wrote:Had HUD interview this morning. My guess is they have made initial offers, but that they may make a second round of offers if anyone turns down an offer.Anonymous User wrote:So is OCC done with hiring?

DOL Honors Program:
Just received an email that I made it past the hiring committee and to rank my geographic preferences. Don't want to give out much more info bc I'm not sure how many others are contacted.

We talked about it in our interview and they said they really don't think that a potential hiring freeze would affect the honors program, but they admitted they're not entirely sure what will happen....Bluedemonlaw wrote:Not directly. I'm the OP who first posted about receiving the email. Do you know how many applicants they have trimmed it down to? I wasn't even sure how many applied to begin with.

Also got a DOL email asking to rank preferences last night. Does anyone have a sense of whether this is earlier or later than previous years?

It's way earlier because they are obviously trying to get offers out before Trump takes over and freezes the **** out of hiringAnonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Also got a DOL email asking to rank preferences last night. Was this email just for folks who said they were interested in a regional office rather than HQ during the interview? Thanks for all the updates in any case!Anonymous User wrote:It's way earlier because they are obviously trying to get offers out before Trump takes over and freezes the **** out of hiringAnonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Also got a DOL email asking to rank preferences last night. I wanted regional and HQ. We were asked to rank all offices we wanted to be considered for.

Re: Government Honors (Non-DOJ) 2016-2017 Cycle
I don't think two weeks is "way earlier" but maybe matter of opinion? From what I can tell from last year's thread, "active consideration" emails were sent in late November, HQ sent out "under consideration for offer" with references request in mid December, regional sent at least some "under consideration for offers" with references request as late as January, and offers for HQ mid December regionals as late as February/March.Anonymous User wrote:It's way earlier because they are obviously trying to get offers out before Trump takes over and freezes the **** out of hiringAnonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Also got a DOL email asking to rank preferences last night. Co-worker got a reference check email from HUD regarding an applicant for the honors program. So they are on to reference checking, it seems.

For those who were asked by the DOL to provide geographic preferences: does anyone know what the next steps are in the Program? I wasn't sure if there are more rejections before regional offices conducted interviews etc.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
