3LOLCI (MMing): worth it to ask classmates to usher my materials?

T6 rising 3L here, so there are plenty of classmates scattered across firms I'd like to apply to. As SAs who are vying for their probable if not guaranteed FT offers, are they likely to be able to put in a good word w/ associates/partners on the hiring committee?

On the other hand: 1) they don't know my work product at all, so they'd have little to no basis to speak to my potential. Or at least, much less of a basis than my current supervisors who were ex-biglaw themselves.
2) I'd be disclosing to friends the rough situation I'm in, a situation that shame & embarrassment have kept hidden for this long.

So if current classmates/SAs aren't the best people to network with in preparation for 3LOLCI, is there anything else I should be doing to find alums who are current/former associates/partners at these firms who'd be willing to go to bat for me?

Thanks

any upside to this or should I continue to stay on the DL until it's safe to poke out?

I'm guessing you got no offered?

I think this could only help, but would probably only be helpful in some situations, like a smaller office, or they are in your same practice group

As for the no offer point, I don't think you even need to tell them, if that is the case. U could just say you're really interested in the firm, ask them for tips, and have them get your materials to the best person possible at the firm

And I don't see any way this could hurt, unless u just potential awkwardness
