I have a screener with a biglaw firm in a secondary market to which I have absolutely zero connection. What is the best response to the inevitable "Why X firm" and "Why X city" when you have no family and haven't even visited?
Edit: I would ask my CSO but incompetency.

Well I wouldn't recommend doing this, but I was at an interview for a Delaware firm and lied through my teeth. I had never been to Wilmington, lied in my cover letter about how I "loved" Wilmington, forgot I lied about loving Wilmington in my cover letter, partner asked in interview what I loved about Wilmington, I started laughing realizing what I had done, and then proceeded to make up some shit about being there for a wedding or something. I ended up getting an offer somehow.
But I really do not recommend doing this. Be honest, or at the very most exaggerate your interest in the city a little bit.
