HR Staff at Screener Interview?

Interview at a big law firm in the coming weeks. Checked the interviewers and they are two HR staff members. No attorneys are listed. Does this mean the firm isn't taking the interviews seriously and isn't really looking for candidates?

I had this happen once before in the past but it was with a firm I had no shot at but was an alternate at a job fair.

i've had HR/support staff sit in on CBs. their time is valuable too. don't take it personally and don't be an arrogant ass about it. firms' HR/recruiters are JDs too so they're more than qualified to make a determination on your abilities as a 1L.

Yeah, don't forget that EVERY interaction you have is part of your interview - whether it's an email or phone call to arrange schedule, a person from recruiting meeting you at the front desk to walk you to interviews, etc.

I wasn't trying to be arrogant about it. I'm a 3L and this is for an entry level associate position. I just thought the firm might have a first or second year attorney there to talk about what it's like the first few years at the firm. As a side note, this isn't a callback. This is at a job fair and there will not be any attorneys present for the interview.

I plan to take it seriously but I wasn't sure how someone that's not an attorney can tell me about daily life as an attorney at this firm.

HR/hiring person at a firm I clerked at during 2L used to be part of the firm's litigation department but transitioned to HR after having a few kids and wanting to be able to spend more time at home. Definitely not going to be the case with every firm's HR person, but it is possible that they will have some hands-on knowledge.

Just checked and one was previously a big law attorney for a few years so I think I'll be alright. Thanks

I did some 3L interviewing. For Ropes, I had one initial over the phone screener with HR and another in person screener with HR before interviewing with an attorney.
