It's interesting to see Shearman and Milbank drop the last couple of years. Wonder if that reflects anything on the heavily transactional NYC firms.

Because enough junior associates thought it was a 5 instead of a 4 on the prestige scale to move its score up by 0.01.

So do they just give associates a list of like 100+ firms and ask you to rate their prestige from 1 to 5?

The list of firms is so fricken long. You can rank any firm you want. Usually that's based on whether I've heard of the firm or not.

There's a bevy of queries for a whole bunch of factors. I guess they actualize the data at some point and spit out a ranking.

I think I randomly gave ratings to about 20 of them. Left the rest blank.

Seriously, once you have actually done the Vault survey, you understand why these rankings are less than useless. It's complete nonsense.
