Aiming for NY biglaw and would like to massmail before OCI to maximize my chance. However, I'm doing a summer gig in another city and will only be in NY the week before my school's OCI (which is in early/mid-August). Would firms be willing to interview me that late? Or my time is better spent researching firms and preparing for OCI interviews? Thanks in advance for any input!

Firms will be interviewing for months. Unless you have a major life event happening, presumably you'd be able to fly to NY for the day if you got an interview before that week.

You should research firms and prep for interviews in addition to mass mailing.
