Sa in big law firm in ny. Important dr appointment that I could only get at noon. Think I need to tell anyone? Or just don't make lunch plans that day and go to the doctor instead?

I would probably just tell someone that you had an doctor's appointment at noon and let them know where you would be. Don't see it being an issue.

Tell your secretary and maybe let an associate adviser or anyone that may "need" you for anything know you're going to be out of the office for a bit.

Are summers really this neurotic? Law firms are just like any other company... of course they're not going to have an issue with you going to a DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT. I feel like there's far too many "I have ___, what should I do?" threads here. Just tell a supervisor and go.

These threads are funny because (1) who the fuck knows what your random firm is going to think since none or almost none of us work there and (2) like you seriously can't ask someone in recruiting or an associate who doesn't have direct power over your fucking offer, NOT THAT IT WOILD EVER MATTER. But seriously, it's refreshing to get daily reminders about the depths of aspitude like this.

To be more helpful (but again, not really): no one at my firm would care and I have no idea who I would even tell, and if I did they would probably be embarrassed for me. Good luck, OP!!!

Whatever you do, DO NOT let on you have a doctor's appointment. You want your firm thinking you're too sickly to handle THE RIGOR of BigLaw? Or if you're healthy, that you'd WASTE TIME prioritizing health over VITAL WORK? Just wait until a health issue becomes unbearable and then seek a late night clinic on a night you have less work, and drink the pain away in the interim.

To add onto this, which is clearly correct, remember this mantra: death is preferable to weakness. Chant these words for at least 15 minutes each morning while driving to work and dry shaving (to maximize time, always be doubletasking); you'll blink and wake up a sr associate in no time.

Even though this is obvious jest, I feel like there are far too many people who actually think like this.

Whenever I have somewhere to be, I just pop out or leave early without even telling anyone. If they need me, they have my number and email.
