Re: LinkedIn link on email signature
My first assumption on email signatures is a person with more than their name and phone number in it is a pretentious asshole. Emails from law firm addresses can add on the firm name, title, and mailing address.
There are a lot of pretentious assholes.

Even a student looking for a job? I'm not showing off. I'm trying to advertise. I have my phone, undergrad, law school, and (maybe) LinkedIn. I guess I don't see what it would accomplish besides putting people off. If you're applying for a job, they'll have all the info they need in your materials. If you're not applying for a job, that person doesn't need a link to your LinkedIn. And frankly, if you're writing to someone in part because you hope they can get you a job, and they really want to know what your resume looks like, they will either ask you for it, or google your name + linkedin.BNA wrote:Even a student looking for a job? All good points. Thanks. I'm generally very conservative, but I guess potential unemployment has made me over anxious.A. Being nervous is fine, but you still gotta think about how you're presenting yourself to potential employers.
Just take a moment and think, what would you think of a person who sends you an email which includes a signature with undergrad, law school, phone number, and LinkedIn link?
Aside from that, the people you'll be contacting are extremely busy and they value their time. Providing duplicate information when not necessary will only work against you.
