Hey all,
1L here finishing up exams. I'll be interning in-house this summer at a F50 company (is that a thing? oh well, it's for anonymity).

I have some time between the end of exams and my start date, so I'd like to read a couple books that will help me out. It's not a matter of gunning for an offer, as I don't think this internship is designed to bring interns back for post-2L summer or immediately after graduation, but my work experience is not in business so I'd like to familiarize myself with the landscape and not walk in as a deer in the headlights.

Aside from industry-specific material, what are some books I could benefit from reading? Thanks in advance!

You could read Capital by Thomas Piketty, then explain to your employers how they're contributing to the inequality of wealth distribution. Kidding about that second part, but might be a worthy read (it's in my 'someday soon' pile).

For real though, im not sure what a non-industry specific book would have to offer for a summer gig. If you're working for a bank or something involved with investing you might just start poking through investopedia. Otherwise, maybe start reading WSJ or the Economist for the summer?
