Developing more partner relationships in a law firm

I'm a first year at a mid-size firm. My hours have flucuated quite a bit there are some months where I bill a ton, and others where I bill very low amounts (partially because I suck at entering my time). Most of my work comes from 3 partners, and I get discreet work from other partners.

What can I do to get more consistent work from other partners? The only thing that comes to mind is knocking on doors/following up, but what else can I do?

Would be hilarious if he actually meant discreet.

I thought he meant "discreet" - the other three partners are possessive of him.
