Thoughts on the bid list? Particularly for 3L friendly/lit/bio backgrounds?

Rising 2L checking in for PLIP 2016. No idea what to bid on. Any help is appreciated. TT, Top 10%, B.S. Mechanical Engineering. Not sure if I want to do pros. or lit.

Your bidding strategy will vary on a number of factors, but I'll give you some of the factors I weighed, in order:

(1) Location
(2a) Prosecution/Litigation
(2b) Practice Group/Specialty (more applicable to Prosecution)
(2c) Practice Group/Specialty location(s)
(3) Firm(s) already attending my school's OCI
(4) Selectivity (per Vault and/or your school's OCI/GPA numbers)

I way overthought my PLIP bid list, but I compiled all of the above information in an excel doc (using NALP and firm websites) to reduce my list to 32 firms. Some factors were easy to evaluate - are you willing to move to X city? Or does X office even have what you want to do? It helped me quantify how "aggressive/safe" I bid (bidding on selective firms that I had a chance at as opposed to wasting bids on offices/firms that didn't have an appropriate practice group for my background) Good luck!

Thank you! Any previous experiences on whether firms "mean it" when they list that they interview 3L's? I mean, it costs them nothing to insert that and then they can just filter out the 3L's if they want to (since they pre-select 100% of interviews).

Also, the "Special Instructions for Specific Firms" that they emailed out references way more firms than are actually in Symplicity. Do they add firms in the coming days/weeks?

EDIT: I may have answered my own question. I think Symplicity automatically filters out firms on which you cannot bid. Since the system recognizes that I am a 3L, it only shows me the 90 employer entries who state that they are willing to interview 3L's This is why it appears that EVERYONE lists 3L's (because it only shows me the employers who do) and why some of the firms are missing.

Will anyone else corroborate? Do rising 2L's have more than 90 entries? Thanks!

Is there any info on the interview/callback/hiring rate at LPIP? I received six interviews, which I'm sure is not a lot compared to most peeps. Is there any chance of getting hired from that?

I think you'll have a chance with 6. I got 14 preselect and 1 alternate. How did everybody else do?

Have 7 pre-select, none from firms in my city though, probably because of OCI.

Is anyone interested in sharing a Doubletree room for the interviews? There are options with 2 queen beds and I thought it's not a bad idea to save some expenses. I am a quiet sleeper. I would prefer to share with people who will be there from August 3rd to August 5th as I have interviews on 4th and 5th. PM me if you are interested.
