i have medically necessary doctors appointments twice a week. is there a way to deal with this during my SA? i can schedule them for later in the evening, is there a time that i could make sure I'm out of the office by, or is this something i need to discuss with someone at the firm? (i would rather not reveal my medical condition to the firm). i am happy to make up any hours that i miss!

since its so frequent i would raise it with the hiring person just to be on the safe side. if you keep it generic, speaking about "medical appointments," its doubtful anyone will pry.

You should tell your office's HR person/office manager. They won't tell other attorneys, and you shouldn't worry too much about letting your firm know because everyone realizes that discriminating against someone for a medical condition is a really easy way to get the firm sued/on ATL. Depending on what market you're in, early morning (like at 730 or 8 am) may be less disruptive than evening appointments.

End of the day would be more difficult than beginning of the day, I think. If you could get an 8 am appointment and still be in the office around 9, no one would bat an eye (at least in Texas....no idea about other markets). But leaving at 4:15 or so would look worse.

And I vote tell the head HR/recruiter person. They will be discreet and could explain for you if someone happens to notice and brings it up in hiring decision meetings.

Just bill it and you should be fine.

If you get other summers to go with you, you could expense it as an event. Just load a 12-pack of beer, some pb and j and party favors and you're good.

Don't do evening, there are too many evening events. Lunch is not ideal either. Early am is best.

What market? If NY even an 8 am would be fine - basically zero chance of work
