How to leverage my internship into a SA position

I just landed a paid summer internship with a v20 firm through a partner connection at one of their smaller offices. I will be attending a t14 school this fall, and will be pursuing the biglaw route. To my understanding, I will be working directly with the partner who got me in, and will be given more substantial work than the typical administrative matter.

My question is: how should I go about leveraging this great opportunity into a possible 1L/2L SA position? Thanks!

Do good work and be well liked. Express enthusiasm toward the type of work they do there.

Also be sure to read things carefully and follow ALL instructions.

0Ls not allowed to post in Legal Employment. Wait until you are in school.

But to answer your question.

1) Just do good work and don't do anything stupid or annoying.

2) Your 1L grades will be much more important in any hiring decision.

3) Stay in touch with the partner and ask him for his advice about the firm and applications, take him out to coffee, etc. when OCI/hiring time starts coming around. He'll hopefully put in a good word for you which will help, but you won't be a shoe-in for anything b/c of #2.

Yup. Since you've posted anon I can't move this to Ask a Law Student/Grad, so I'm locking it, but feel free to repost there if you want more feedback.
