Done with law and want to do consulting.....

I have been practicing corporate law for 2 years at a large form mostly doing M&A work. My UG degrees are in Economics and Management and I have internship experience at Morgan Stanley (1 Summer). How the hell does one transition into consulting? I am tempering my expectations and only looking at big 4 but cannot seem to gain any traction. Am I out of bounds by thinking this can be done?

I have an MBA from a top school. We had a few biglaw refugees, so that's one (expensive) way to get there. I would guess the best (cheaper) way to do this would be to work alumni connections. You can find alums from your previous (UG) via LinkedIn. There might be some JD/MBAs from your law school too. Informational interviews are your friend. You are also a bit of an odd duck in that you're not entry level, but they might not bring you in as an post-MBA level consultant.
If you are looking to bone up on the industry and Consulting case interviews, I recommend the Vault guides and I would also read The Fast Track by Miriam Naficy.
Note that MBB can be snotty about where they recruit, so you may be looking at Deloitte, etc. (still consulting) to get a foot in the door. Good luck!

Where is your UG degree and law degree from? What vault rank firm are you at? Annoying questions, but consulting firms, particularly MBB, are pretentious as hell.

Sure, my UG degree is from a "strong" state school, my law degree is from a "t25" law school. My my firm is v100. I would be content with that second-tier consulting group/big 4.

I have a target UG + HYS + good grades/test scores + finance background + elite law firm and still have gotten rejected out of hand by a number of places, TheHill. Making the jump is very difficult.

This is my story. HYS law school, tippy top undergrad, v3 firm, full BB ibank analyst program. No love, despite some connections. Couldn't even get an interview.
I was further out when I applied (I think I was about a 4th year in biglaw), which likely did not help.
I am not quite that far out, but it really is amazing. Can't even get a phone screen at some of the same firms I was able to get interviews with during the recession a while ago pre-JD and pre-biglaw.
