I was fortunate enough to finish my first semester at the top 5% (possibly #1 and likely #1-3) of my class at a lower t14. I have a few BigLaw interviews lined up. I was curious if I should also apply for Appellate and District Ct. internships or stick with BigLaw, assuming I get an offer.

End Goal: BigLaw => Partner

Go biglaw. Why forgo the summer money?

If you want to do a clerkship, do one postgrad after getting a biglaw offer from a firm that is cool with you going to a clerkship before starting.

1. You should apply to other jobs in case your 1L SA interviews do not turn into offers. Whether that's a judicial internship or something else is irrelevant. You should almost assuredly take the 1L SA over anything else because it is paid and has the chance to turn into a full-time post-grad job.

2. What you do your 1L summer isn't going to matter for making partner and you should also realize that making partner at a large firm is a pipe dream.
