i would reach out to alums. obviously the stronger the connection the more help they will be.

i wouldn't send resumes to a firm without an opening. lateral hiring is about filling needs, and it doesn't help if there isn't one for your background/work experience

I should also note that I am open to other markets, but would prefer the particular market mentioned because its large and geographically appealing, among other reasons. Feel free to chim in on whether you believe a broader search will be necessary for these circumstances.

I have heard that many firms are "always looking for good people." Is there anyone that has had success applying to firms with general inquiries?
