Lateral Job Search (NOT FIRMS): Tips?

Any tips for the search?
Currently in major market biglaw. 3-5 years in. Looking to get out of firm life. (If my only choice were to go to another firm, I'd rather just switch professions entirely, which I've also considered.) Not interested in working for financial institutions (banks, etc.) since it's more of the same from what I can tell, especially in a big city. Not picky about geography as long as it's an affordable location. I would most prefer the Pacific Northwest, but I'm okay going where the jobs are. Where to look besides online at random postings? I feel like recruiters only know about firms and financial institutions.
