Did not get firm holiday package

Hey,
So i'm probably being paranoid here but whatever. I'm going to be at a V30 next summer. A few people from my school will be at the same firm and it sounds like they all got gifts from the firm. I haven't received anything yet. Am I wrong to be concerned?

Is it a firm ranked between V25 and V30? One of those firms is infamous for rescinding offers this way: they won't send you the official "we're sorry" letter until January, but the first hint of trouble comes in December when you don't receive any Christmas presents.

Out of curiosity, which firm is this? At least the specific rank?

lol that was funny. because that was a joke, right? because you couldn't possibly think that an online message board would provide insights into whether your V30 would fail to send you some fucking cookies, right?

Sorry, I don't feel comfortable getting that specific.

Is that firm the one after which the most prestigious professorship at Yale was named?

Just email the person in the office you feel most comfortable with and ask them if there are any leftover cookies. They probably just think you're one of those gluten free people for whatever reason (what did you order at your callback lunch?), so you can couch it as simply updating your profile that you have no dietary restrictions.

In the same boat here, dawg. No gift from my T25-T35, you feel me? Looks like I'm on the chopping block.
Going all in for 3L OCI, I guess

Many utterly freaked out 2Ls reading this right now. Can we add some more support to the claims made here? Quick TLS search didn't yield much. With stealth layoff talk abound on TLS recently and the not-so-great market conditions, I'm actually beginning to get a little paranoid too.

Realistic answer: all incoming SAs are ranked internally for recruiting purposes--matching up with best partner mentors etc. Some firms do this firm-wide, others within each practice group.
Whatever recruiter who ordered the cookies probably accidentally didn't order enough, and just started sending from #1 and on down and only realized her mistake at the end of the list. Or, maybe it was printed onto pages, and a few of the names at the end of the list ran onto one last page that she thought was blank
Long story short, recruiter made a mistake, it wasn't an intentional slight

I have a friend who was stealth offer-reneged before graduation but the firm was much lower than V30 - I thought the general wisdom was that above V40-ish or so you were safe from this. Sorry OP; get hustling and if you're lucky they'll just make it a cold-offer so you can "voluntarily switch" to another firm.

this kind of blatant fearmongering is what is causing the panic.
at absolute worst they just pissed off whatever partner oversees the Christmas cookie budget and should just either (a) steer clear of him this summer or (b) speak with him and apologize

If the posters here know people that this sort of stuff happened to, it's not fearmongering nor is it the absolute worst. Can a TLS vet or two come in and tell us exactly how much we should be fearing a renege?

I feel less bad for OP. Who comes to TLS for reassuring?
Offer readjustment happen but seem limited to severe exigent circumstances like the sudden unexpected onset of the great recession. They're certainly not going to do something weirdly passive aggressive like withhold a holiday package. Probably an administrative screw up or your package is delayed for whatever reason.

honestly, at this point, this is true. The post office is crazy backed up this time of year. Your cookies are probably coming. No cause for concern at this point.

I agree, no need to worry yet. If your cookies haven't come by Wednesday though, then I might start getting a little nervous and you may wanna try calling the firm just to confirm it was only a mix-up (Thursday is Christmas Eve, after all).

How did others receive the package? T3 carrier or USTTTS?

If it makes you feel any better OP, one of my friends never got his offer cookies. He did get a holiday gift, though, so you may be fucked.

I haven't gotten a gift from my firm either. I'm not worried, but I also don't really want to work there beyond this summer

If you think this is bad, I've two day Amazon Primed stuff to myself twice this week and its taken 5+ business days both times.
Now that sucks
Eta: Condolences on the revoked offer though
