Too many people in my class are using their Gmail. If they knew this thread was being made I guess they wouldn't have.

I doubt this is the best place to ask, but do summers generally have July 4 off as a holiday? Can we make vacation plans for that weekend, or is this firm-specific?

sounds very weird but it's not that hard to fig out where they're from if you just type "name + law 2017 + linkedin" or "name + law school" into google.

I did that just because I was weird and curious and wanted to lurk (my class is very small)

Yes you'll get july 4th off. Yes you can make plans. Even the worst offendors for summer weekend work won't staff over the 4th.

I worked straight through the July 4th weekend, with an assignment due Monday morning that I got Friday night when I was out with friends last summer. V5, fwiw. And in definitely not one to overwork myself when it isn't totally necessary.

That Stanford number is surprising to me...there a small number of top Stanford people interested in DC this year?

if you made plans to travel somewhere and let your assigning attorneys know at the beginning of the summer about those plans they would have just given it to someone else. it's just a matter of advance notice; any SA could have taken your place if necessary.

eta: I see how my comment about staffing was confusing. yes, people might get work at that time, but no one will get staffed over july 4 if they make it clear they can't.

Yeah, this seems like 10-15 people smaller than I would've expected. Especially since Kirkland Chicago has been crazy busy the past year. They even kept their SAs on part time this year to help with all the work

They increased their NY summer class number. Maybe that's only part of the list from Chicago office since it seems that list was released quite early.

probably just the list of who gets the holiday swag

holy harvard @ GT Miami. there are two '14 grad associates there too. is this normal? 60% of a class from the T14 in a secondary sounds like 1L SA territory. maybe it's that?

OP who posted about Greenberg here.

Lol nope - those are 2L's. Miami is just a really random market that's hard to crack for anyone outside of HYS. And greenberg is sorta the alpha dog of Miami

Holland & Knight/Greenberg/White & Case/Bilzin et al are a part of a very, very small legal market in Florida. If you want South Florida Biglaw, you're not discriminating.
