Let's assume you start out as a first year associate in Sept./Oct. 2016. When do you get 'promoted' to second year for salary purposes? I'm particularly interested in Jones Day.

That's funny they're using the same system to dole out bonuses

As a former Jones Day disciple....
- You get billed out as one usually on Sept. 1 of the following year.
- You get paid as one staring on January 1 of the next year. 1st year Sept/Oct 2015 - Dec 31, 2016....2nd year Jan 1, 2017 - Dec 31, 2017...etc.
- At JD, you get pay bumps on Jan 1 and June 30. Remember it isn't lock step, sometimes bumps are skipped (my entire class firm-wide got skipped once and several members got skipped a second time).
