what are the most popular gov jobs for 1l summer besides DOJ?

are you telling me you turned down that full ride to go to harvard and are not even aiming for a 1L summer at wachtell??

the more i hear about law firms the less i want to go to one lol

Not sure how much a job's popularity matters if you wouldn't like it. What kinds of things do you actually want to do?

SEC

JAG internships as a 1L is hella fun. Great experience and a lot of fun. But you sort of have to be a little bit into it.

Interested in litigation? If so, intern for a district court judge. I've never met so many high-profile individuals in such a short period (and not just judges). You will get great insight into what (federal) lit is like and meet some great people.

OP, you're at HLS, right? For some reason, SPIF doesn't cover judicial internships so bear that in mind if $$ is of any concern.

also state prosecutors' office, legal aid, various non-profits (environmental, workers' rights, ACLU, etc.)
