Probably because Texas firms hire a larger number of 1L's than firms in other parts of the countrybuckiguy_sucks wrote:Why are there so many Texas firm qs in this thread

HP Palo Alto interview request. HYSCCN, urm, unknown rank.
Application to interview request took ~2 weeks and the interview is 30-45 mins.
Edit: I won't be interviewing (accepting offer elsewhere) so I can't provide any insight going forward but I was hoping posting this info might help others in the future.

Hey guys I have a dilemma: I accepted a USAO offer a few weeks ago and today I got an SA interview invite. Does anyone know if USAOs ever allow splits? I was really excited to work there this summer, but now I am feeling some regret...

Thank you. At my school we applied through Symplicity. The deadline was 1/25 but I don't know if it differs school to school.Anonymous User wrote:Do you mind sharing how did you apply? If I've since joined a journal and revised my resume a bit, is it fair to send an updated resume prior to my callback? Or best to just leave as is?

I think this can go either way. Tbh I don't think it can hurt you IMO if you send it to the HR contact. I think for the most part, attorneys get your resume only a few days before they interview you; so they likely haven't even looked it at, but up to you I guess.

I have a few interviews for the Tax Court of my home state. I'm also applying to the Bankruptcy Court, District of my home state.
Is the federal internship more valuable/worth it? I would like to go for my llm in tax after, but long term I would like to focus on small to medium size business structuring/reorganization/growth.

Does anyone know about St. Louis biglaw SA's? I applied to all the usual suspects. Offer from Lathrop & Gage (STL), call back at Husch Blackwell, Thompson Coburn, Lewis Rice, and Greensfelder. Waiting on all to respond. Just wondering if anyone knows the timeline on these or as heard anything?

Dunno if it impacts the timeline, but some of these are doing WUSTL's spring OCI this coming week, so may be waiting to make any decisions till after they churn through that bunch.lanieh05406 wrote:Does anyone know about St. Louis biglaw SA's? Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
Lol damn. I still have yet to do my callback at Lathrop & Gage, Lewis Rice, and Greensfelder; they're all scheduled in the next two weeks. Only done Husch Blackwell so far. Waiting post-screener on Armstrong Teasdale and Bryan Cave, dinged at Thompson Coburn. Lathrop extending offers already? I wasn't particularly married to the idea of working there anyway, but it seems odd they'd still do callbacks after extending offers. Their STL office is tiny isn't it? Doubt they're taking more than 1 1L SA.lanieh05406 wrote:Offer from Lathrop & Gage (STL), call back at Husch Blackwell, Thompson Coburn, Lewis Rice, and Greensfelder. Waiting on all to respond.
Are these pre-grades callbacks? Or did you direct apply before Diversity Clerkship Program/OCI? I don't think it's possible to have scheduled and done 5 callbacks within a week.
Basically offers should all be out by March, with the exception of Armstrong Teasdale, which I have heard is notoriously slow. I'd say if no callback by the end of next week, then no callback at all (again, excepting Armstrong).

No, I have grades and rank back. And yes, I did all this week through direct applying or applying through connections at the firms. Lewis Rice and Greensfelder interviewed me before grades. I'm mostly wondering about TC. Did you have a callback and then ding? How long did it take to get the ding? Through email or snail mail?
Is TC going to WUSTL OCI? They sort of said it would be ~2 weeks before offers and that was a week ago. I think they are interviewing a lot of people for very few spots.
Any news from Husch? Didn't love them, but maybe just my interviewers.

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
My TC ding was a snail mail ding about 4 days post-screener. All snail mail from a firm = ding.
Some firms are going to OCI (not sure which ones), but almost all of the SA positions will be filled by diverse candidates, who would have interviewed at the Diversity Clerkship Program. I highly doubt any offers will go out to OCI; they're probably going to either direct apply people (with connections) or DCP people.
Also waiting on a CB at Polsinelli actually, but the stuff I sent them had a typo so it's probably not gonna happen. Well actually my typo went to all the STL firms, so I wouldn't be surprised if I get no offers despite 5-6 CBs (friend at Polsinelli told me they spotted the typo lololol).
It depends on the firm too; Polsinelli is doing 3-4 CBs for 1 spot. Husch Blackwell is probably doing way, way more CBs for 2 spots.
Frankly, the firms are all more or less fungible. Polsinelli has no face-time requirement, which might be a substantive difference (dunno about other firms).
No news from Husch. Given the sorry state of my diversity statement/writing sample, and no STL ties, I'm crossing my fingers for the LCLD stuff.
