How big of a transcript red flag is dropping a course this late?

2L headed to a 100% firm. I've had a rough few months personal life-wise, and I've let it spill over to school: I've been trying to catch up the past few weeks now, but there are still several classes that I haven't really read a page for.

I'm confident in my ability to BS my way through each class, individually (i.e. at least getting an A-), but I have five finals/papers and I just don't think there's enough time to be able to pull it off in all of them. My school allows drops until the last day of class that won't affect GPA, but the drop will show up on the transcript (and I'll be out some tuition, obviously).

Is putting a drop on the transcript a big enough red flag w/r/t clerkships/otherwise to make it outweigh the potential GPA hit? Thanks

I highly doubt that it will matter at all for your firm. Could potentially matter for clerkships. Don't know enought about that to really give an opinion.

It's a red flag for lateralling later. Suck it up and get your B+s.

So you would say that, hypothetically, three B+s is better than two A-s and a drop?

As someone who reviews lateral resumes - yes. Obviously worse.

I'm sorry, I appreciate the response but I can't make out which side you were advocating for.
