V&E and Latham are probably the top dogs in Texas/Houston when it comes to any transactional work. Sidley Austin is fine though, you'll do good work. Do you have any other offers you are trying to balance it out against?

I am very happy with the offer. Just don't know a lot about the Houston legal market. On other threads, you see a lot about the Texas firms and Latham, but haven't really seen a lot about Sidley. I know they have a great national reputation, I was just wondering about their reputation in Texas/in Houston. Just curious about how they stack up against places like Locke Lorde, Bracewell, and Andrews Kurth.

Sidley is new, the office only opened in 2012 iirc, and they are not all that large (50> ppl). That being said, they do the same kinds of work all the other transactional shops in Houston do, O&G and various finance work. Dont know much about their Houston office, but they are a good firm nationally/internationally.

Congrats on the offer.

I think in Houston their reputation is behind all of the firms you just listed. However, reputations are dumb and Sidley is a great firm so congrats.

Sidley Houston is a great firm and great people to work with. Plus they are a 100% offer firm, something you can't say about any of the other firms you listed (except maybe Latham). Go with them.

^I don't see that anywhere, except they had less 2Ls in their class this year than in the previous two years.
