having a pretty hard time making a decision. interested in litigation, white collar stuff especially. really want to be a prosecutor (ausa ideally) so biglaw I guess I'm approaching more as a means to an end. mostly concerned about feeling comfortable in the firm environment - i'm fairly laidback/friendly. really loved the vibe at latham when i visited, and the fact that it's new-ish and small seemed exciting. but foley seems great too! also a consideration - not sure i want to be in boston, like, fo-evah.

I'm not sure what the debate is. A firm like Latham regularly churns out AUSAs. And yeah, not wanting to live in Boston forever? Latham. No question.

In Boston foley hoag has a better reputation than Latham. Foley is a home office, where as Latham Boston is small and a satellite. That is not to discredit Latham as a choice, just something to keep in mind. I would also check out the practice areas in Latham Boston, last time I checked on the ligation side they did mostly products work. I am not sure they have much of a white collar presence, but that may have changed.

If you knew you wanted to stay in Boston I would say Foley is an "easier" choice. My impression is it is also a firm where partnership might be a real possibility, though I realize your not interested in this.

All that being said if you think you are going to want to get out of Boston after a short period of time and lateral Latham would give your more flexibility in terms of location.

I would vote Foley.
