I want to do RE but enjoyed the people more at Willkie. FF's wall street reputation also scares me a little.

I think it's silly to pass up FF for Willkie if you are set on real estate.

Op here: I had heard from several people that FF is a sweatshop, especially in comparison to Willkie. If someone has insight to the contrary, I would love your input.

I've heard from multiple inside sources at FF that some corporate partners at FF are "rough" and "difficult" to work for. That being said, this is true at many firms, I am sure. For what its worth, I also met some real estate partners at Fried Frank, all of whom were very friendly.
If your heart is set on real estate, I'd do FF.

Fried Frank has the best Real Estate practice in the country. If you are actually interested in RE, I don't see how this is a decision at all.
Wrt to work, FF gets rated pretty highly for its culture and quality of life. FF is still NYC big law so I doubt it is any walk in the park, but I don't think it is worst of the sweatshops and no different from Willkie. If you are really concerned about working hours, big law is probably not a good route for you at either FF or Willkie.

Others are correct on the RE point (FF probably makes more sense if you are RE or bust), but I can tell you why I chose Willkie: it is a well-rounded old school NYC firm with strong and diverse practice groups spanning corporate, restructuring, lit, and asset management, it is stable, it has high PPP and RPL, and is a pretty humane place to work (with all of the caveats that come with NYC biglaw). I know Willkie lacks "prestige" according to vault, but it is probably one of the only NYC-centered firms that is underrated by that survey.
