LA vs. SD Biglaw

Deciding between Morgan Lewis LA and Sheppard Mullin SD (Del Mar).
Both offices have small summer classes of about 5, from what I understand (MLB might be a few more). I'd be doing primarily corporate/PE work at both offices, which is what I'm interested in.
SM seems to be a better place for mid-level satisfaction and has a higher likelihood of making partner, but I imagine MLB has better exit options, just due to the nature of being in a slightly bigger legal market and with a bigger household name.
Other factors I'm considering: LA housing market more expensive than SD? More traffic/commuting in LA? I imagine it's easier to get to good surf spots on weekends in SD? I also have friends and some family in LA, but really no connection to SD, except that I like the weather, beaches, and surfing (which I imagine I won't really have time for anyway). Better work/life balance in SD?
