Being asked to clerk 3L after 2L SA

I've heard certain firms ask their local 2L SAs to clerk through their 3L year (not with S/A wages...), before becoming official associates post-bar. What are everyone's thoughts on this? What if you don't want to clerk, does it look bad after receiving a post-grad offer to decline working through 3L year?

I don't think it would look bad, considering that there are probably out of state SAs that don't have the opportunity.
But why wouldn't you want to if you have the chance? The firms I know doing it still pay A LOT, i.e at least $60/hr +. And the most you'll work is 20-30 hours a week. That's really nice spending money to have 3l yewr
