I recently received an invitation to an offer dinner which did not specify any sort of attire. What should a male wear to one of these? Formal? Business Casual?
Thank you

I'd go business casual--I would't wear a tie, they most certainly will not be. Unless of course the invite says formal

Where are you? NYC? If so, wear a suit and tie or call recruiting.

Wear a suit and tie for NYC biglaw.

Suit w/ out the tie worked for me (chicago big law). All the men there were dressed identically

Some people dress business casual (khakis and blazer). Safe option is to go suit and tie, take your tie off and pocket it if no one else is wearing a tie. No one will judge you for being slightly overdressed.

It's better to be overdressed than underdressed. You can always just take your jacket off.
Also what is the restaurant (how formal is it)?

OP here: it's Chicago. Think I'll go formal and take the jacket off if I'm overdressed

This is what I did last year. Most attorneys were business casual but a few were in suits so I was still glad to have mine.

I went with a nice sheath dress and flats. Don't overthink it.

There's no shame in asking recruiting what the attire is. I've done that before and they're happy to help. You already have an offer.
