I'm trying to decide between a CA and NY firm, and I'm basically at a standstill.
Is there any chance you can split your summer between between 2 different firms, one in NY and the other in CA? Is this advisable? Is it ridiculous enough where it's not even worth bringing up with recruiting?

I know some firms will let you split, but I'm not sure how common it is. It's particularly common in Texas.
This is of interest to me too - thinking about splitting Texas and DC, but I'm doubtful that the DC firm would be on board.

I split my summer between NY and LA firms. It's certainly possible. You just need to get someone to accept the second half split.

At least some DC firms allow split summers. A friend split between STB's DC office and a federal government agency.
Of course, the firm's analysis may be different if the first- or second-half employer is another firm in a distant market, as opposed to a BigFed gig down the street.
