General thoughts? Seems like a cool place to romp around and do arbitration

More importantly, does it have more magic than Allen's ovaries?

This is undoubtedly tacky given that they're a good firm, but I couldn't bring myself to bid on Freshfields during OCI, almost exclusively because if I got an offer and ended up working there, I didn't want to have to explain to family/non-LS friends that "no, I don't work at a grocery store"

Is a Fresh Field at all similar to a Fried Frank?

Seriously, what goes through people's minds when they decide to name some of these firms?
Stroock & Stroock (baby delivery service?)
Freshfields (organic grocery store chain?)
Shartsis (gross)
Fried Frank (hot dog stand?)
I'm sure all are fine firms, but all are on my "wouldn't consider unless no other option" list just due to embarrassing names

Freshfields is in a bit of a tailspin when it comes to international arbitration. They fell from Chambers Band 1 to Band 2 in international arbitration during the last year, and several of their big name arbitration partners have been poached by other firms (see, e.g. Alex Yanos to Hughes Hubbard) or have left to start their own firm (see, e.g. Jan Paulsson and others who formed
Three Crowns).
White & Case, Hughes Hubbard and King & Spalding are the places to go for arbitration, in my opinion. Debevoise is fantastic also but it is pretty well known that 1Ls get lured in to there with promises of international arbitration only to be stuck doing internal investigations for a long time.

Speaking of firm names, I had to use every bit of my self-restraint not to crack a cookie- or dough-related joke while interviewing for Pillsbury.

TCR is to poke the interviewer in the stomach and then feign shock and disappointment when they don't giggle.

That would be amazing to watch.
Also, I'd love to see someone apply to Pillsbury using this as their cover letter:

This would not be complete without a reference to Slaughter & May.

At least they have a logo, unlike the font & color combinations of their competitors.
