Tips for staying on a firm's radar

Made it through three rounds of interviews with a decent-sized law firm in my preferred market. I don't know for sure, but I got the sense that they were down to 3 or 4 candidates. Ultimately they selected someone else, but the firm admin sent me a personalized rejection letter and said they would "like to consider [me] for future openings with the firm."

This happened about three weeks ago. Still reeling, and wondering if there are any steps I can take to stay on the firm's radar.

Edit: This is for a permanent position, not a summer thing. I'm a 2014 grad, just finished my first year as a judicial law clerk, and I'm still clerking for my judge on an open-ended basis.

Send them the resume/cover letter combo in the spring of your final year of clerking. Say mid-February or early March.
