I've always been interested in divorce/matrimonial law but have no idea what a realistic salary would be for a divorce lawyer. I know it probably depends largely on the market, but there is so little information I was just wondering if anyone had a ballpark idea of what a young associate could expect to make in lets say a secondary market.

I would say this estimation is correct for the first 1-3 years of practice. It really depends on how well you do establishing a client base and networking. I know a solo practitioner who has been practicing in family law for about 6 years (also 6 years removed from graduation) and makes close to $100k a year but he always says that none of that would have been possible without networking. Most of his business comes from referrals by attorneys who don't do family law or former clients who know of people that need representation. So really it probably depends on the kind of work/networking you do
