Hey - I'm a female committed to litigation and choosing between Debevoise NY and Gibson. I'd love to hear opinions on this decision. What choice would you guys make and why? Thanks! :D

Gibson is incredibly accommodating if you ever want to change offices and the associates at GDC are about as "cool" / down to earth as associates are going to get for NYC litigation.

You'll have comparable exit opportunities. Really, this is a question of where you feel more comfortable, and whether you want to lock yourself into a NYC office for post graduation.

Thanks, anon! You mentioned that the GDC juniors were down to earth, did you have any sense of the culture/personality type of associates at Debevoise?

debevoise is better known and more prominent in new york, but gibson has the stronger litigation practice nationally, especially in appellate. If you're looking exclusively to the new york market and building a career there, as in, maybe exit to SDNY/EDNY AUSA or another new york firm, you'd probably head to Debevoise, whereas Gibson offers the chance to work on huge, impactful cases in areas other than securities and white collar with other lawyers from DC and LA.

also, the firms should have a pretty different feel (at least in my experience) and I think it's totally fair to choose based on personalities.
