Received an offer with my firm after my SA and have to respond by October 1. Decided i'm applying to a few other firms due to interest, etc. How long should i wait before it's a lost cause and will likely not hear back from those new firms once i've sent them my materials?

Why are you asking for a deadline when you already have a deadline? Wait until October 1st and if you have no other bites take the offer.
