+1. I was asked about one of my interests in almost every interview last year. I think a unique interest can be beneficial.

I've had some really great conversations with interviewers regarding my interests (especially if they share the same interest).

I agree. In theory, they're fine. In reality, it's just self-serving fluff.
Interests you see on resumes:
Running marathons
Studying international trade
Camping and kayaking
Flying as an amateur pilot
Things way more popular than those things that you don't see on resumes:
Watching Netflix marathons
Studying international porn
Drinking and yakking
Flying in an online FPS while shit-talking adolescents

It seems silly but it's a lot more pleasant to talk about something that interests you than getting grilled on behavioral questions. So I'm not complaining.

I'm so glad someone finally had the courage to bring this previously unexplored topic to the forefront of TLS trending topics.

I was hoping interviewers could post in this thread the weirdest things they've seen in a candidate's interests section. or maybe everyone just puts stuff like "hiking, sports team x, and golf"
Have any of you ever seen anything along the lines of "330 Bench/455 Squat/495 Deadlift" ?

that seems oddly specific. also, wtf does it mean? that's like if I put "three pointers from the left corner" as one of my interests instead of "basketball"

Your posts in this thread seem like stuff DF would say
For the record, I think listing interests is a good thing for OCI. It provides opportunities for the interviewer to make the conversation more interesting and possibly like you more if they share an interest or think your's is intriguing enough

If you like one of the four major sports or golf, you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't list your favorite team on your resume. It's a nice failsafe for interviewers, and I've found sports to be a great conversation topic for that awkward walk from one interviewer's office to another's on a callback.
