S&C and DPW have matched, according to the grapevine. Paul, Weiss about to match. Can anyone confirm?

For posterity, every major firm should know that if they do not match this raise, they should give up all pretensions to being a top-tier law firm. I have a top 1% LSAT score and I graduated top of the class from CCN, as did all of my friends; there is a precisely 0% chance we would ever consider working for a firm that is not paying at the top of the market, and any firm that does not match this raise is not a top-tier firm.

Also, Cravath should become V1 next year.

Anonymous User wrote:Kirkland will match in Chicago. Chicago is the mothership office, and it has too much of an arrogant hotshot culture (I mean this only in the most loving way possible) to ever suffer lower salaries than New York. I doubt the match will take a week. There would be revolts otherwise.

So I'd expect at least some percolation to Chicago for sure.
And if Kirkland matches, there is no way Sidley won't be right behind them as they compete for the same students.

Bigger question is the other Chicago-based firms like Mayer, Jenner, Winston, McDermott, etc.

If anon is sincere, did S&C and DPW boost their CA offices to $180k as well?

I asked my friend at S&C if they matched and he said something along the lines of he doesn't give a fuck because he will kill himself if he hasn't quit before then.

Well EP's source is legit at least.

Please don't make me start texting people. I don't want to be that guy, TLS.

He also added that he hadn't heard anything and suspects S&C might wait for someone else to move so Davis Polk doesn't embarrass them again.

A friend has pointed out that OCI is around the corner, so firms gotta decide whether or not to match pretty soon.

Shit, K&L Gates associates are still waiting for their office to actually match the 160k scale after year 1. K&L is already below market now.

Oh I finally downloaded the AmLaw 200 that just came out - I'm gonna look at financials for this year, compare them to the past two years, and see how many firms can actually afford this. I'm so excited to play with the numbers for this - though I need to figure out how to quickly find out breakdowns of associates at various offices/regions, which will be difficult.
