Hospitality suites & getting additional screeners

I have heard about the hospitality suites in the screener hotels during off-campus interviews but don't really understand what they are/how they work. Could someone shed some light on this? I searched and read several threads but mostly the term 'hospitality suite' is just mentioned casually in school-specific OCI threads without any actual info about them or how they work. I know that they are a room(?) where different firms will hang out and potentially give out additional screeners(?)
Any details about this would be much appreciated. Thanks

It varies, I imagine, from school to school, but the general idea is that some firms will have a small conference room sized space with some recruiting staff and lawyers from the firm. You go there, say hi, take a snack or swag if offered, and just chat about the firm like an adult having a normal conversation. If you have an interview with them already it's a good way to learn more about the firm beforehand and to make an impression. If you don't have an interview then it's a good way to get one.

if you are aiming to score an interview, bring extra resumes and prep enough to convey interest in the firm/ask the recruiting people some targeted questions

is there any way to know ahead of time which firms have a hospitality suite? or do multiple firms share one larger space and it just sort of depends who is there?

Again probably depends on the school whether they have and share this info before the event. Your career services office will be able to speak to that.

Regardless, for firms you didn't get an interview with but really want, I'd recommend just emailing their recruiting department before OCI.
