How to Bid Strategically

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Jun 25, 2015 7:15 am

Thank you in advance for any helpful advice, it is really appreciated.

Facts
School: T14 law student.. Non-T6. Live in NY.
GPA: 3.10
Prior Work Experience: 1.5 years, Capital Markets, boutique investment bank, London
Softs: Other than English, I speak Arabic, French, and Portuguese (all fluently)
1L Summer: Working for a local transactional firm in Sao Paolo, Brazil
Interests: Transactional (Finance)

Am I pretty screwed with my GPA? Probly.. doesn't mean I shouldn't give it my best shot..
Didn't find the advice from career services to be particularly helpful.. For that reason I am coming to TLS: in an ideal scenario, a list of firms to place in the top 10-20 spots of my bidlist would be awesome.

Thus far, I have:
1) Clifford Chance, 2) Freshfields, 3) Chadbourne, 4) White & Case, 5) Dechert, 6) Linklaters, 7) Akin Gump, and Shearman & Sterling.

Again, any suggestions are really appreciated.

1. Allen & Overy
2. Latham
3. Hogan Lovells

Your GPA is pretty rough but if you play up the experience and language skills you can do well in an interview. It is gonna require some hustle though.

Im the OP:

1) Thanks a lot for the additional names - I'll check into where best to fit them wrt summer class size.
2) Does "hustle" refer to anything besides voracious networking w/ alumni?
