Yes. I believe V&E has had several 100% years. I would say it's the safest of all the TX firms -- at least before this past year.

In the meantime it doesn't hurt to keep mass mailing, if you REALLY want to be safe.

V&E guy here. Thanks guys. I am really grateful for my offer, I was stressing the hell out until I got it. And I still am sending stuff out and keeping lookout on symplicity.

When you accept, do they expect you to say right away if you want to do full summer or split?

No they give you plenty of time, at least for me at one of big 3.

DAL & NYC have had several 100% years but HOU has never been 100% dating back to the recession -- 2014 closest at 2 no offers, other years 5-10 HOU no offers including 2015

This seems extreme. What is the Houston class, like, 15-20 people? You're saying that sometimes the offer rate is ~50%? Doesn't seem right for a TX big 3.

No it's usually double that if not more. 40+ in 2015 and 2013 but only 30 2Ls in 2014. Offer rate was ~50% in 2009-10, it's ~80% in Houston these days. Granted NRF has been even worse some years, especially Dallas (50-60%).

NRF Houston last year was probably at least 90% (I summered there and I didn't hear of anyone not getting an offer). But I know they also had a much higher yield than expected, which might affect their offer rates this year.

I didn't hear anything post screener but I just assume they don't ding anyone until they are locked down for their entire class. I would think there is a 95% if you haven't heard past screener its a ding.

Yeah checked my email and I didn't get my actual ding from them last year until October 3rd.

Anyone know of Texas firms (longshot for biglaw, but maybe mid sized firms) that are still in process for CBs? Wondering for an out of state friend looking for places to mass mail

mass emailing = freaking email EVERYONE, NOT email firms "that are still in process for CBs." The more time s/he wastes asking question like this the less likely she's gonna get a CB or job...unfortunately.

I had a screener with Locke Lord in early August and heard nothing for weeks. I sent them an email Sep.21 that I had another offer and a deadline and would like to hear from them and got an email ding about an hour later.

Curious question. How are people around median faring for this year? I feel like that is a good indicator for how our school is doing going forward. I was slightly above median and got biglaw, but not any of the Big Texas ones.

It's more than just grades. I know below median with several offers, and well above median with none.

To answer anon above, I'm a 2L exactly at median.

OCI results: 25 scheduled interviews, cancelled 1

Callbacks: 11 CBs, cancelled 4 CBs (mix of Big Law [none from BB, V&E, NRF], medium, and a few small firms)

Offers: Converted 4 of 7 accepted CBs into offers (mix of Big Law, "Big Tex" market-paying, and small/med TX slightly below market)

Accepted Big Law offer, and overall, was extremely satisfied with my recruiting outcomes. To future near median students - it definitely can be done! Good luck to all, hope everyone else was equally satisfied with their results.

Is a 3.79 top 15% to the best of anyone's knowledge?

It's certainly top 15 and is likely about the coif cutoff for 1L. But the coif cutoff is more like 3.85 by the time we graduate w/ grade inflation after 1L (there was a leak of graduating coif/honors gpas a few months back).

Do we know what the honors cutoff is generally? 3L sitting at a 3.50 after my first two years. I've always heard its around a 3.5 but can be higher.

I thought it was 3.58 for the last graduating class, but I could be mistaken.

it looks like I can never graduate with honor unless I fill my remaining law school schedule with seminars and business school courses
