Lateral to Minneapolis?

Longtime lurker returning to the fold. I'm currently a third year in a strong secondary market with a niche practice area. My husband was accepted into the University of Minnesota for law with a large scholarship, so it looks like he'll be headed to Minneapolis in the fall. We think we might want to be in Minneapolis long-term, and I'm starting to look into a move. Has anyone lateraled into Minneapolis? Any tips/advice/dire warnings about the Minneapolis legal market generally?

Thank you so much in advance!

I'm a mere law student, but I've sat down with associates/partners from a handful of firms in Minneapolis to feel out the market. Only firms I really heard good things about were gray plant mooty and Lindquist & Vennum. You'll probably want to look at going in-house - there are plenty of Fortune 500 companies in MN.

Best to start early - lateral hiring from outside the market can be difficult. A friend's fiancee is a 3rd year at a V10 firm and has been trying to lateral in with no success yet.

The Minneapolis market is heavily saturated and difficult to crack. I have seen plenty of people get jobs with top firms in Chi/NY but strike out in MN.

What's your practice area? Patents are health are hot right now.
