Reading through last year's thread. This fair seems hella competitive.

Don't be disheartened about your results. I was top 10% at my T14, only got 6 interviews and just one callback. I was shell shocked coming into OCI but my screener/cb ratio at OCI, on the other hand, was around 50%. So don't get too concerned if you don't get many interviews or etc. For some reason this fair is brutal.

Likewise, if you are competitive for MTO and Keker and they come to your school I would personally not interview with them at BADF. I think MTO and Keker use this opportunity to pick up top tier students at schools they don't primarily target.

I'm new on this boat, I had never even heard about this fair before but I've recently become interested in working in the bay area. How does this work exactly? Does everyone who signs up get some screeners? Or do they only pick a few people? According to the timeline you posted it seems to be some sort of combination of pre-selected interviews and a lottery system.

There's a lottery element but I don't know how exactly it works. I'm under the impression that this whole thing is largely pre-select. I don't remember how many interviews most people typically get but it's usually very low. Great practice though and you meet some interesting (albeit nervous) people.

How do we figure out which firms to bid on? Do we just hit up our school's CDO and ask to see the grade book?

How do you deal with firms that only allow one interview? Is it better to interview through OCI or the diversity fair? What if you get pre-selected for one of said firms?

After you get preselected you must confirm those interviews. Then you can make your decision. I think firms will understand if you ultimately decide not to accept their preselect (e.g., you decide it's not worth it to fly to SF).

Re: multiple interviews with same firm. It's firm specific. Some will straight up tell you that you should interview with them once (jones day) and others won't care. I interviewed with Latham SV and didn't get a callback but received an offer from Latham LA through my school's OCI. Your mileage may vary here though so be careful.

find 3L's who participated in the fair and ask them. The bidding doesnt really matter that much though.

The whole thing was a huge waste of time for me but it was good interview practice. God help anyone who wants to work in that shit city though.

For pre-selects, will only the firms I bid on get my resume and the opportunity to pre-select or will all firms get all the resumes and look through them??

Also for the cover letter, are we expected to personalize for each firm?

Hypothetically, if all my spring grades have no come in before June 14th, how screwed am I?

It's always better to but you could probably get away with keeping it general and just changing the firm name. It'll mostly come down to your school/grades anyway

It's fine, I bid last year when only half my grades were out

Common wisdom is that it's better to interview for a particular firm through OCI than through the diversity program correct?

I know diversity is a broad term, but realistically does a "diverse" (in other meanings of diversity) white person have a chance here? Should I bother?

How much does your bidlist order matter in a context like this?

It usually takes 24hrs to get the login info.

The higher you bid the firm the higher your chances of getting a screener.
