So how's everyone feeling about their preselects?
Also when do we find out if we are selected as an alternate? What does the number next to our alternate status indicate, the number alternate we are in the queue?

Re: Southeastern Minority Job Fair 2015
I feel really good about my 7 preselects. 1 of them is my top choice. I did not get any alternates. Hopefully, it will all work out. Based on reading previous years posts, it looks like we will get the results as early as Monday after the fair.
As for the alternate status, yes, it is your ranking. I found this out by going to the SEMJF website and clicking on employers. There are a bunch of really informative PDFs available there that explain the process from the employers' perspective quite well.

We'll find out alternate status when the interview schedule comes out.

6 preselects and got my top 3. I'm median at a top 20 and mostly bid FL firms.

How terrible is it if I was the 5:40-6:00 slot on Friday for my top choice? Being the last slot isn't a great place to be I'm sure.

Re: Southeastern Minority Job Fair 2015
That's funny. I also got my #1 choice for the Friday 5:40-6:00 spot. I am choosing to think of it as a positive. It's the only slot where the interview can run longer than 20 minutes. Plus, if the firm wants to take me to dinner, that option is wide open. Gotta be an optomist!

Anybody else get a weird schedule? I have a bunch of interviews on Friday including a few back to back. Yet, I have absolutely nothing Saturday until late in the day.

if I have an interview scheduled with a firm that didnt require a cover letter... should I draft up a cover letter for the interview?

Re: Southeastern Minority Job Fair 2015
I've been debating that myself. I had an interview over the summer and I had a bunch of documents with me. the firm did not ask for any of them and had my resume printed out in front of them. So basically I have no idea.

I usually bring copies of all the docs except for the cover letter. I'll probably bring a reference list too. I highly doubt any employer will ask unless they didn't print off the updated stuff though.
Good luck everyone!

Today's the day it all begins. It's amazing to think that just one year ago we were all just getting ready to begin our law school adventure. Now, we are about to meet some of the most powerful attorneys in the country, all of whom are genuinely considering bringing us aboard their team.
Good luck everyone!

Hahahahah... I wish. I had a really busy day and felt great about all but one interview, but who knows.

Wow! Congratulations! One of the recruiters told me that people applying to Atlanta would hear by Tuesday, but those applying for other offices would hear in a week or 2.
When are you scheduling the callback? I'm curious because my school's OCI is coming up soon and I wouldn't want it to conflict.
