I know anything legal is the correct response. But is there any meaningful difference between an internship with a fed. magistrate vs in house at a tech company?

the best job is what you want to do after you graduate.

It won't matter for OCI. Use 1L summer to try something out, make connections, get ties to a market you might want to live in, etc. "Best job" is completely personal.

If you want to do BigLaw after graduation, then attaining a SA position as a 1L will put you a step above the rest of the applicants.
