I worked in a satellite office of MD and would disagree. Starting salary in philly office is about 100k, satellite offices, depending on region, in Erie I it was 80k. Salary bumps are about 5k per year. Partners make 150-200k, excluding upper management and executive board members. First years usually have a goal of 1900 (160/mo.). The numbers do go up as you progress, but it is really only very senior associates and partners who are expected to bill 2400. By the time you reach that level, with all of the cases you will be dealing with, it is not difficult to average 200 per month. As a second year there were months where I hit 200 in a month. I usually got to the office around 8 and left around 6. I would occasionally do some work on the weekends, but never more than a few hours. There is one level of partnership, and everyone is expected to reach that level. No one is sitting around for 15 years still as an associate. Yeah, Pepper is Philly biglaw.
