Interview Question

I have an interview tomorrow for a 2L Law Clerk gig with smaller office of Am Law 200 firm. Firm has an SA program, but only in head office.

Is it appropriate to ask about post graduation expectations, if they don't bring it up? Tactful way to do that?

Definitely do it. Just say you are interested in a long term position and want to know the firm's plans.

If you're worried you can always ask after you get an offer.

Ok, will do. I have something else this summer that has a 50% shot a full time already, so not super worried about it.

If I may piggy back a question, how do you find openings for these? or do you just mass mail and specify you're looking for a school year thing. (2L without a firm job this summer looking for ways to optimize chances of employment)

Try emailing smaller and midsize firms and let them know you are interested in clerking this spring, in to summer, and in to 3L year. These type of positions can lead to offers. At a minimum you are building resume experience and connections if your firm cannot extend an offer.

I found this on simplicity.
