Securing a Letter of Recommendation before Prof retires

I almost CALI'd corporations, and this prof would write me an awesome letter of recommendation. However, I already have a job lined up for the summer, and he's leaving soon for retirement. I want this LOR on file for the future.
Has anyone ever secured a LOR and just saved it for future use? Do law professors typically allow this?
I doubt he wants to be bothered to write letters after he retires.

People can still write LOR after retirement.

Sure they CAN. But it's probably better to have it done now, and to keep it for future use.
I wouldn't want to be bothered by people after I retire while I'm lounging on some beach in the Caribbean.

Why don't you just ask the prof which he prefers
